The purpose of this web page is to assist companies within the boundaries of the Town of Fairfield (CT) in complying with the hazardous materials reporting requirements. In an effort to reduce the risks to emergency responders and the public, all industrial and commercial facilities are required to notify the Fire Marshal's Office of any chemicals that fall into the following categories:

  • Extremely Hazardous Substances (EHS) as identified by the EPA
    • ANY AMOUNT
  • OSHA Hazardous Chemical List
    • OVER 5 GALLONS OR 25 POUNDS
  • Federal DOT List of Hazardous Substances
    • OVER 5 GALLONS OR 25 POUNDS

In an effort to assist local businesses with compliance, Fairfield Fire Department has three ways to submit information. Companies may complete traditional paper forms and submit them by mail, complete electronic forms and submit them on a 3.5" disk (Win 98) or submit information as an E-mail attachment. We have made a template available for download to companies who wish to submit information electronically. The use of this template does not relieve the company from the legal requirements to provide chemical information.
