Storm Preparations

During any wind storm, power lines may be knocked to the ground. Always assume that wires are live! Keep kids away and do not handle them. Additionally, wires that are not energized may be re-energized without your knowledge. During any emergency, please wait and let trained personnel handle downed wires.
Do you have a generator in your house?

There are codes that require generators to be installed properly in the home. Please have qualified electricians install the proper automatic switches to prevent injury to linemen.

Electrical Fact - Did you know that the power coming to your house has different voltages? The power is converted from high to low voltages by transformers before enterring your house. These same transformers can convert low voltage to high voltage if allowed to "backfeed" the system (ie. improperly connected generators) from your house.

See our tape outside by a down tree? The tree may have hidden wires inside which have energized it. During storm emergencies, it is not always possible to keep personnel at every instance of a down tree. Respect fire lines and do not cross barrier taped areas. This is for your own protection. Thank you for your assistance!
